Whilst all of our hookbaits and loosefeed will catch barbel, some (such as Barbel 5 & Barbel Proactive) have been specifically created to target big barbel and others have proven themselves in testing and through anglers’ catches to be our best baits for barbel.

The awesome Barbel 5 is back! Its been 6 years since we last produced this fantastic Crab & Anchovy  bait and its back with a vengeance. Barbel 5  is an instant attract bait that barbel readily accept as a food item and it caught many big barbel back in the day.

Due to the precise make up of the bait, a couple of ingredients proved difficult to source when our supplier stopped importing them 6 years ago, and reluctantly we had to stop producing the bait as it just was not the same. Thankfully after many years searching around for alternative ingredients, we are now 100% happy with the bait and so we are proud to be re-launching this very popular bait.

The bait has a very strong odour, similar to a bank tramp and will help to pull fish away from sanctuary spots to investigate the crustacean smell.
Without giving too much away the bait contains the following:
Pre-digested fishmeal, milk protein, yeast, anchovy extract, crab, & stimanol

Our highly digestible milk protein bait designed for catching barbel all year round but with particular importance in Autumn/Winter when more protein is required to maintain a healthy metabolism.

Top dairy products such as lamlac, casein, skimmed milk powder and lactalbumin are blended with the superb salmon meal and amino enriched blood plasma. Flavour wise we have stayed on the dairy theme but added a few special palatants to really give the bait a punch.

Without giving too much away the end result smells like a chocolate caramel sundae that simply divine. Initially designed for use on the Trent, this bait has proved itself to be a big hit where flavour trails are needed to entice barbel from a distance.

Barbel Proactive Products:

The ‘Lee Swords’ Barbel Session Bucket has all the essential food items required for a day/night barbel session. This handy bucket contains enough of all the items you need, without the need to buy lots of separate packets of baits and additives which can quickly mount up to an expensive trip. The baits inside are all endorsed and used by the Hook Bait Company consultant – the ‘Trent Machine’ himself – Lee Swords.

Each Bucket contains the following:

• Stimanol pellets in varying sizes and break-down times
• 200 gram bag of stay fresh boilies
• Shelf life paste
• Stimanol PVA stick mix
• Bottle of A-Tract liquid booster
• Pot of matching bait dip

The Hook Bait Co. 3-B is an extraordinary food source packed with milk, fish and meat proteins which are further enhanced with three natural stimulants. We have blended low temperature fish meals and haemoglobin with more than a healthy measure of robin red and belachan to give this bait a rounded profile that has proved extremely successful in our trials on both lake and river all-year round.

To finish the bait off we have incorporated natural food items such as fresh water shrimps, bloodworm and krill to give this bait the crunch factor.

A true classic in the making, this bait is readily recognised and accepted as a protein food source for carp, barbel and chub.
